An extraordinary collector’s piece manufactured in the 1990s, this Third Generation Colt Single Action Army (SAA) revolver stands as a testament to the craftsmanship and artistry of both Colt and master engraver Jeff Flannery. This iconic revolver boasts all the hallmarks of Colt’s rich history, including the standard company address and patent dates stamped on the frame, along with the “VP” proofmark and the legendary Rampant Colt Pony emblem. The firearm features a 5-1/2″ barrel equipped with factory-installed sights, perfectly complementing its six-shot fluted cylinder.
The revolver is adorned with stunning floral scroll engraving expertly executed by Jeff Flannery, whose signature is discreetly inscribed on the bottom of the ejector housing with “J. Flannery Engr” in elegant script. The gold inlay highlights enhance the visual appeal, while the eagle emblem on the left recoil shield adds a touch of distinction. This piece is completed with imitation stag grips, offering a classic and timeless aesthetic that perfectly matches the engraved motifs.
The firearm is accompanied by a custom wood display case with a key, designed to showcase this exceptional revolver. The case, while showing some wear, provides a fitting presentation piece for such a remarkable example of Colt’s craftsmanship.
Condition Report
The revolver’s metal surfaces retain an impressive 95% of their original dark Colt blue finish, showcasing only minimal signs of handling. The imitation stag grips are in excellent condition, complementing the revolver’s overall appearance. Mechanically, the revolver is in outstanding condition, with a tight hammer and cylinder, crisp mechanics, and a bright bore with strong rifling throughout.
