Colt letter confirms manufacture date of 1919 and shipped to Keith Simmons & Company, Nashville, TN. This gun has exquisite German style engravings with a scroll and oak leaf pattern, not confirmed by factory research. Patent dates remain on the left side of the slide with model markings on the right. “VP” proof on the left side of the trigger guard has been surrounded by scroll engraving. Punch dot engraving around the rampant Colt pony on the left side of the slide. Matching serials on the frame and slide. Standard 3-3/4″ barrel with blade front sight and u-notch rear. Polished finish under the engraving. Checkered white imitation pearl plastic grips. No magazine included. CONDITION: Metal is excellent overall with the engraving remaining crisp and unpolished. Metal underneath remains clean minus some light patina on the front strap. Grips have light wear. Bore has some frosting in the grooves. Surface remains clean. Rifling is good overall.
