Colt Research letter states this was shipped to Bob Horton, August 12, 1939. Originally manufactured with a 6″ barrel of unknown configuration and later upgraded with a 6″ fluted barrel and recessed/fluted cylinder. Barrel is not marked with any company address or patent dates. Matching serials on the frame and crane. Factory target sights, checkered trigger face, and competition hammer remain with the gun. Factory blued finish throughout. Original checkered wood grips with silver medallions. Added (removable) plastic spacers under the target grips. Includes Colt factory research that states 6″ blued finish and was a loan account gun for Bob Horton, shipped on August 12, 1939. Includes Colt factory letter. This is truly a one of a kind gun for any collection. CONDITION: Metal retains 85% of its original finish with some light wear on the grip straps and cylinder. Grips have crisp checkering with some wear on the medallions. Some verdigris is present around the screw holes. Bore is bright with strong rifling. Tight hammer.
